Am I more noble than a beast today?
Who can now tell? Not I! Humanity
Left me when Love, for sin, I did betray.
The bees show their queen more fidelity.
Father, praise be to you in the highest:
For you look at me and declare me pure!
You look at me and see your Son who died;
My God, how does your Grace always endure?
Like Mary Magdalene, I have but nard
And tears to bathe your feet and fill the air
With the song of my sobs, but you, Oh Lord,
Rejoice with tears. I felt one land upon my hair.
And when I did look up into your eyes,
An adoring smile was their only reply.

Anna Joy Boyles
Go away,
But stay.
I am lonely,
Not alone.
A light
Flickers.
Darkness, like cockaroaches, scatters.
Disgusting!
I hate you! Run!
I hate you! Run!
I hate you! Run!
I hate you! Flee!
Inside my being
A gentle gleam emits and
though weary, I stand.
Love,
where are you? Love,
where are you?
A surprise embrace
Sweeps my soul and self away.
My thoughts turn to You.
You did not purpose
This; Nor was it Your will for this
To be, yet
I am so very
Weary of weeping
Dry tears.
Cold and apathy sieze me!
Winter and apathy sieze me!
And with the first drop of
frustration--I don't know if it was
Perspiration or regret--
(Oh, how I marvel at a tear!)
I see I feel again,
I see I feel again!
So,
I pray a surprise embrace
sweep my soul and self away
today,
And ignite my spirit
With a kiss,
And ignite my spirit
With a kiss.
"Anna Joy Boyles,
Ann Joy Boyles.
Where are you?
I AM here! I never left you."
I am lonely, not alone.
Go away, but stay.

Our Sound
Take note!
Take note!
Here we are,
On the brink of a measure
About to burst
Into rapturous, resplendent sound!
Take note!
Take note!
There we were,
In the face of our fears
About to enter the dark;
Let our radiant anthem resound!
And play!
And sing!
At the height of our song
With our rhythm and voices,
Our rhapsody reaches
Where no other help can be found.
And play!
And sing!
You and I are more
Than musicians,
We defy Death's gravity with our
Soaring, transcendent sound!
Now pause, and reprise:
Play a song for the broken world
That lies shivering in the rain.
Play a song about what's not broken,
And see humanity flock to Grace.
Take note! Take note!
And play! And sing!
